Community involvement in Huizen

My connection with Huizen goes beyond a business address. Alongside my work as a freelance digital marketer, I have volunteered for more than ten years, with a strong emphasis on youth work, governance roles and website management. That experience forms the basis of my leadership, communication and organisational skills, qualities that also carry over into my work at Piet-R Digital Marketing. Most of it takes place in and around Huizen. In addition, my company supports the local community financially.

KNRM Huizen – Rederskring

Since April 2024, Piet-R Digital Marketing has been a member of the Rederskring (patrons' circle) of KNRM Huizen, the lifeboat station on the Gooimeer and IJmeer. The KNRM has rescued people and animals in distress at sea and on large inland waters since 1824. The station receives no government funding and relies on volunteers; through structural financial support, I contribute to training those volunteers and maintaining lifeboats and equipment.

Knapenvereniging Huizen

At this Christian youth association I have been a leader of section B since December 2019: every Sunday a group of boys gets together to talk about serious matters, with room for sports and games and the summer camp as the icing on the cake. Since January 2022 I have managed and designed knapenvereniging.nl, and from March 2024 to February 2026 I was a member of the audit committee, overseeing the bookkeeping and financial documents.

Scouting Flevo

For over ten years (August 2012 – December 2022) I was active at Scouting Flevo in Huizen. I started as a leader of the Mowgli Cubs (ages 7–12), was communications manager for parent contact, and from 2016 to 2019 team leader with final responsibility for the group. Later I guided the Rowans (ages 16–18). Since October 2014 I have designed and managed the website of the land-based sections with a fellow volunteer, including its email addresses.

Stichting Albanië Comité

From October 2018 to August 2020 I was a website management volunteer for Stichting Albanië Comité, a foundation that helps the very poorest in Albania. I made design and content changes to albaniecomite.nl.

Instuif "Komdrin"

From March 2015 to November 2016 I led this youth drop-in once every three weeks, giving young people aged 11 to 15 an enjoyable Saturday evening.

Zenderkerk

At the Zenderkerk in Huizen I have been involved in several ways since May 2012: first as a member of the projection team and the Facebook team, and since March 2016 as a singer, once every three weeks together with two other vocalists as part of the band.

Hervormde Gemeente Huizen

From September 2011 to June 2019 I held various leadership and governance roles at youth clubs of this Reformed congregation: leader and executive board member at 4you Huizen, chair, founder and leader of 's Aauwus, and leader of Bruggerchill, organising activities once or twice a month for first-year secondary school pupils in Huizen.

Sharing knowledge

Within the Sales Marketing Group network and at the Huizen-based agency Sales Marketing Coach, I have delivered Google Ads training to new team members and fellow freelancers on several occasions. I enjoy passing on knowledge, and the feedback has been very positive.
