SEA specialist: Google Ads freelancer for your campaigns
What is SEA?
SEA (search engine advertising) means advertising in search engines, mostly with Google Ads. Your ad appears exactly when someone searches for your product or service. That makes SEA fast, measurable and easy to steer. It is also a channel where budget disappears quickly when nobody looks critically at the accounts.
As an SEA specialist and freelancer I help you use Google Ads (and Microsoft Ads where it fits) wisely. Looking for a Google Ads freelancer who thinks strategically and also takes the campaigns into their own hands? You are in the right place.
What I do in practice
I start with your goals and your numbers: what is a lead or sale worth, and which data is already reliable? After that I build or restructure the account.
- Strategy and setup: campaign structure, keyword research, funnels and budget allocation.
- Daily management: setting up experiments, excluding irrelevant search terms and pausing underperforming audiences, locations and keywords.
- Ads and bidding strategies: new ads and smart bidding strategies, including responsive search ads (RSAs) with relevant input.
- Automation: automating reports and feeds so manual work decreases.
- Reporting and meetings: regular recurring meetings and clear explanations of what happens and why.
- Managing agencies: already working with an agency? I challenge it on performance and efficient use of budget.
Tools and channels
At Clever Strategy I worked with Google Ads (Search, Display, Shopping and PMax), Microsoft Ads, Google Merchant Center, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Looker Studio, and with Channable for feeds. Video campaigns in Google Ads I ran at Valtech for ASML. Besides search engines I have experience with Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads and other social channels. That helps when you want search and social to work together in one funnel. You can read more about the data side under Data & Analytics.
Who it is for
My approach suits webshops, B2B companies, brands with multiple markets and marketing teams looking for an interim SEA specialist. Sometimes I temporarily replace a colleague, sometimes I work next to an agency, and sometimes I build an account from scratch together with your team. Search ads work best alongside good findability, so I often combine SEA with SEO. Want a broader approach? Take a look at my strategy service.
Experience and examples
A few assignments where SEA was central (more in my digital CV):
- Valtech (SEA & Social Ads Specialist, interim): for ASML I managed, together with two colleagues, all paid Google channels: Search, Display, Video and Discovery. I also worked for Philips and Fellowmind. See Valtech in the CV.
- Landal GreenParks (SEA Manager, interim): focus on reporting automation for Google Ads results, large-scale tests and extensive automation via bGenius to optimise RSAs; I worked on the Dutch, Belgian, German, French, Austrian and Danish markets. See Landal GreenParks.
- Mediahuis Nederland (Digital Marketer, interim): optimising search ads, social ads and affiliate to drive subscriber acquisition, and challenging the agencies Springbok and OMG on KPIs. See Mediahuis Nederland.
- ALDI Nederland (Digital Marketing Specialist, interim): the SEA annual strategy for 2025 and 2026, an API feed via Channable for dynamic search and display ads, and Microsoft Ads as a growth channel. See ALDI Nederland.

Frequently asked questions
What does an SEA specialist do?
An SEA specialist sets up, manages and optimises paid ads in search engines. Think of keywords, ad copy, bidding strategies, budgets and reporting, so your advertising budget contributes as efficiently as possible to your goals.
Can I outsource Google Ads to a freelancer?
Yes. I can take over the full management or temporarily strengthen your team. I work as an interim specialist, next to an agency or together with your in-house marketers, depending on what is needed.
Which channels do you work with besides Google Ads?
I also work with Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads and LinkedIn Ads. That lets me align search ads and social in one funnel.
How do I get started?
Contact me and briefly tell me your goal and which account or channel you already have. Then we look together at the logical first step.
